Field Service Engineer

Border, Midland and Western (BMW) Region of Ireland

Brennan & Company is a major Irish supplier of highly specialised technological equipment to the Scientific, Medical and Industrial markets.
As part of our continued growth, we now require an additional experienced Field Service Engineer to install, perform routine maintenance and provide emergency breakdown repairs on equipment located on our customers sites.

The ideal candidate will be based in the Border, Midland and Western (BMW) Region of Ireland, to allow easy access to our wide range of Customers in Healthcare, Pharmaceutical and Academic centres.

Although certified factory training will be provided for all products, previous experience of working with Blood Banking/Clinical Chemistry and general laboratory instrumentation would be a distinct advantage.

This role requires a person with a strong customer focus and excellent analytical/organizational skills.

Job Purpose

This role is responsible for providing high quality installation, repair, modification and preventative maintenance of equipment and software for Brennan & Co and its customers ensuring that the highest levels of customer service are maintained at all times.

Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Responsible for providing ongoing technical support across Brennan & Company’s client’s product range to 3rd level institutes, national research institutions, hospitals and industries throughout Ireland & Northern Ireland.
  • Install, calibrate, commission and service scientific, medical, laboratory, environmental and process monitoring instrumentation, including
    • Resolve issues, repair or perform maintenance functions in client locations or in workshop as required
    • Identify, analyse and repair product failures, order replacement parts as required
    • Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with specified & agreed schedule
    • Calibrate instruments or test equipment according to established standards
  • Support sales team in client meetings, demo’s, trade shows and workshops with technical expertise/product knowledge as required
  • Assist in the development of company documentation related to equipment installation and servicing
  • Responsible for relaying customer feedback including sales opportunities, customer complaints, and service/failure trends to product managers and field service manager
  • Provide technical product training and basic user functionality training to customer base when required
  • Assist in achieving the service team’s goals and targets and expand the sales support/servicing function
  • Promote the company and act in its best interests at all times
  • Complete all service reports and associated paperwork in accordance with company procedures and processes
  • Undertake product and technical training as required.
  • Other adhoc duties, projects and assignments as needed or directed

Key Capabilities Required

  • 3rd level qualification in an instrumentation or electronic engineering discipline
  • Experience working with complex instrumentation
  • Familiarity with MS packages
  • Experience of working in an engineering and/or servicing role within either the scientific laboratory, environmental or process monitoring equipment field considered advantageous
  • Good technical problem solving, troubleshooting and follow-up skills.
  • Enthusiastic self-starter with a service-oriented approach to all tasks and work activity
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt and work effectively with a variety of situations and individuals
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in and outside the company.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, skill in establishing priorities and managing workloads, including ability to work effectively under stress and time pressures
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, schematic diagrams and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Professional who is experienced and dependable with discretion, enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to clients both in assigned area and nationally, sometimes on short notice including occasional overseas travel for training
  • Full clean drivers licence
